AAUW continues its legacy of philanthropy through State and National Funding
After more than 125 years of history, AAUW continues its legacy of philanthropy in support of women and girls. AAUW has a long and distinguished history of advancing educational and professional opportunities for women in the United States and around the globe. Each year AAUW provides millions of dollars in fellowships, grants, and awards for outstanding women around the world and for community action projects. More than 10,000 fellowhsips and grants have been presented to women and girls in more than 130 countries since the first award in 1888.

WA State Funds

Bonnie J. Dunbar, PhD. Former NASA astronaut and CEO of the Flight Museum in Seattle, WA
A research and projects grant fund, called the Mary Lou Hughes Research & Projects Grant, was launched in 2012. When the grant is fully funded, preference will be given to applicants from Washington State.
Another open AAUW-WA fund is the Bonnie J. Dunbar, PhD Research and Projects Grant Fund, Fund #4352.
Members who contribute to either of these funds, or to other open AAUW Funds, can receive credit for their own branch as well as getting a Federal tax deduction.

AAUW National Funds
AAUW Funds support women scholars around the globe. They are the world’s largest source of funding exclusively for graduate women. Changes to AAUW bylaws in 2009 merged the Educational Foundation, the Legal Advocacy Fund, and the Leadership Training Institute under one 501 c.3 organization, now called AAUW Funds. All donations to AAUW Funds are tax deductible.
