AAUW-WA (as well as the League of Women Voters) endorses approval of Referendum 88 and urges its members to vote YES on 88. We do so because a diverse labor force for the state of Washington and a diverse student body and faculty at our state universities benefits all. Our institutions function best when they represent our population and, thus, include the perspectives, experiences, and interests, of all in Washington as they make decisions and create knowledge for a diverse citizenry.
I apologize for misstating the best way to approve affirmative action in Washington at our state leaders’ meeting. Please inform all your members about our position.
