The Science of Mother’s Milk with Dr. Katie Hinde
Saturday, January 21st, 10am-Noon ZOOM
Did you know mother’s milk is older than dinosaurs? Or that milk composition is highly variable across mammalian species? Or that the biological recipe of milk differs for sons and daughters? Hinde is a well-known speaker, scientist and advocate investigating the hormones, food and medicine contained within mother’s milk.
In 2011 Hinde began the popular science blog Mammals Suck … Milk!, http://mammalssuck.blogspot.com/ and has an interesting Ted Talk. https://www.ted.com/talks/katie_hinde_what_we_don_t_know_about_mother_s_milk
Currently, Hinde is an Associate Professor of Evolutionary Biology and Senior Sustainability Scientist at Arizona State University, where she researches lactation.
She is from Seattle where she was part of the Running Start and College Transfer program and attended Seattle Central. She earned a BA at the University of Washington in 1999 and her PhD in 2008 from UCLA.
