From DEI to DEIA
We added accessibility as a component of our DEI focus. Accessibility ensures that people with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate and thrive, removing barriers and promoting inclusivity in all aspects of our organization. AAUW-WA supports Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility.
Join Our DEIA Team
AAUW-WA has a DEIA Team that meets on the first Monday of the month, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Check the calendar for more information or contact our DEIA director, diversity@aauw-wa.org.
Our Public Policy Priorities (both national and state) emphasize gender fairness, equity, diversity and inclusivity.
National AAUW has a wealth of resources in its DEI Toolkit, including Dimensions of Diversity and Identity.
Watch for DEIA program ideas and activities initiated by AAUW-WA branches to be posted–>here.

Many of us remember Dr. Dorothy Roberts and her moving presentation for our 2021 Health Matters! webinar series. AAUW-WA congratulates Dr. Roberts for her 2024 MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant. Read more -> about the award and about Dr. Roberts’ many contributions to reproductive health, bioethics, and child welfare, exposing racial inequities in social service systems.
Land Acknowledgments
We use Land Acknowledgments at the beginning of both online and in-person events as verbal tributes to the indigenous people who lived in the land where the meeting is held, prior to contact with Europeans.
